The challenge

S&V Memorials is a Windsor family business specializing in custom headstones, plaques, and memorial benches. Run by Slavko Vidakovic for over a decade, the business operated almost entirely on word-of-mouth and the trust earned from quality work.

But families researching memorials often do so privately, late at night, during difficult times. Without a website, prospective clients couldn’t see the work, understand the options, or get in touch on their own terms — they had to call cold, which is the last thing a grieving family wants to do.

What we built

A respectful, easy-to-navigate portfolio site that lets families browse the work without pressure.

• Custom Astro architecture — fast image loading even with high-resolution memorial photos
• Categorized portfolio gallery — headstones, plaques, benches, and custom work, each with their own browsable section
• Subdued, dignified design — careful typography, generous spacing, no aggressive CTAs
• Simple inquiry form — short, gentle, with no required phone fields

Outcome

The site works as a private space for families to explore options before reaching out. The portfolio system means new work can be added without code changes, and the design respects the gravity of what these objects mean.

Success here isn’t measured in conversion rates. It’s measured in whether a family in grief can find what they need without friction. That part works.
